I’m Torn: Allure Beauty Box, August 2023

Posted bySunboxed Posted onAugust 10, 2023 Comments1

After seeing the promo over and over, I decided to risk $10.00 and try out the Allure Beauty Box. As someone who very rarely wears makeup, I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the box, but figured I’d give it a try. This is my first time receiving the Allure Beauty Box and, as I mentioned, I used a promo so I was able to score it for $10.00, as opposed the regular price of $25.00.

Contents:

  1. TULA Skincare Protect + Glow SPF30 – Full Size ($38.00)
  2. LARITZY Cosmetics Lip Gloss in Curve – Full Size ($16.00)
  3. Color Wow Dream Coat Supernatural Spray, 1.7oz (~$12.00, $28.00 for 6.7oz)
  4. Belif Aqua Bomb Hyalucid 11% Serum, 5ml (~10.00, $32.00 for 15ml)
  5. Banila Co USA Clean It Zero 3-in-1 Cleansing Balm, 7ml (~$7.00, $19.00 for 100ml)
  6. Laruce Three Piece Editor Brush Set ($30.00)
  7. Ann Klein Love, Ann (Sponsor), 1.5ml ($60.00 for 3.4oz)
  8. Sign Up Bonus: Static Nails Liquid Glass Lacquer in Coconut, 12ml ($16.00)

Grand total: ~$129.00 ($100 for full-sized items + bonus, estimated $29.00 for trial-sized items)

This box just came in today, so I haven’t put anything through rigorous testing yet – but I’m certainly excited to try. I’m most excited for the sunscreen and hair spray (not actually hair spray, but it’s spray for your hair). While there are a few items here that I wouldn’t purchase myself, I’m glad that I have the opportunity to try a few new items. Who knows, maybe I’ll like them.

“The brushes” – listen, I don’t really use many makeup brushes – but these feel divine. They’re so incredibly soft and the handles are textured for a nice grip. The packaging was adorable and I was sad when it came time to tear it open! For real, I’m not expert, but if you’re looking for a new brand of brushes to try out – don’t sleep on these.

“The gloss” – this is definitely bold for me. It’s not that I don’t like the color, it’s really cute. I’ll be honest though, I might not try this until my sister’s wedding in October. Although, we’ll see if it goes with a terracotta dress. The packaging feels very nice and sleek though.

“The hair spray” – when looking it up to try to find a price comparison, I saw a lot of positive reviews so I’m hopeful that this will be a win! It has nearly 63,000 reviews on Amazon, alone, so it can’t be that bad, haha. “The hair spray”. “The sunscreen” – okay, I love their branding and color scheme. The packaging and tube feel of high quality, so I’m excited to give this one a try. As someone who burns pretty easily, I can always use more SPF. “The sunscreen” – okay, I love their branding and color scheme. “The balm” – I’m a bit disappointed here and I haven’t even tried the product yet. When the package arrived, the lid was no longer on the container. By some miracle, the product hadn’t spilled out, but it was a bit disappointing to open the box and find the container open without a seal. I put the lid back on and it felt like it wasn’t screwing on very tight, so I think it’s a container thing and not a tampered-with thing. I might reach out to Allure about this, but imagine it’s probably safe to use as the product seemed fine. I’ll keep you all updated on this. UPDATE: Allure customer service assured me that the boxes are all inspected and said it should be okay to use, however they did offer a $10 credit, which was nice.

“The serum” – I’m really hoping this works for my skin. As someone with sensitive skin, a lot of products are hit or miss. Either my skin looks and feels great, or I’m breaking out and my face is drier than the Sahara. I’ll cycle this in to my current routine and hope this works!

“The bonus” – the nail polish was a nice touch. While I don’t wear a ton of polish, the color is a nice neutral in the shade Coconut and I feel it would work with a wide variety of skin tones. The verdict is still out on how long it lasts and how it holds up, but I’ll check back in after trying it out.

Is it worth it?

Overall, I’m questioning if this box was worth it for me. At $10, I’d say yes; however, that was just the promo price. Can I see myself regularly spending $25.00 a month on the Allure Beauty Box? Probably not. I will likely give it another try, but I’m not sure that I fit the target demographic for this box as someone who rarely wears make up (although I do love me some skin care).

While I was disappointed about the open product (which I received a $10 credit for), I genuinely feel the box was packaged nicely. When opening it, you don’t feel like everything is tossed into a box with some paper to hold things in place. The box was nicely laid out with tissue paper and the little pamphlets on top. I appreciate the nice display.
